My name is Jaymie and I love fashion. That’s simple. The end. No, I have more to say, hold on.
I left Kansas at 18 to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. First as a Fine Arts Major where I developed a discerning eye for color, line, proportion and scale and then as a Accessories Design major (handbag, belt and shoe design). I did my internship in the design department at Kate Spade. I graduated FIT in 2002.
My first job was as an assistant designer for Nine West and Calvin Klein belts. In 2002 I also designed and produced a limited run of handbags for indie cult celebrity store Opening Ceremony in SoHo New York, Humberto the owner told me the designers of Libertine bought up all 5 of my handbags, I was stoked. After that experience I was drawn to jewelry. I started making reconstructed vintage pieces in the summer of 2005 and named my line Rich Lindsey. I had a piece on Style.com and it was fun. My jewelry line lead to my job at David Yurman where I worked exclusively with David on developing the Couture and Bead/Pearl line. I was there 4.5 years and met many fabulous fashion folk, one of them being Alex White the Fashion Director of “W” magazine. I made her a custom dress for Paris Fashion week in Spring 2008 and also did personal vintage shopping for her.
All of that leads to now. I left NY and currently (or temporarily) reside in Ohio. I troll thrift stores, concoct outfits and leave the general populace scratching their heads.
Enjoy my blog, I hope it inspires. XO
